When you put lobster on the menu it just seems the game goes up another level, and people like the fancy-looking seafood dish involving lobsters. This recipe for lobster rolls is simple, easy, and fast to make, which takes about 30 minutes. Also, by using this recipe you can make it into a variety of other lobster sandwiches and salad choices.
There are many places you can buy your fresh lobster meat or alive lobsters. I bought mine from an online store that can ship live lobster right to your door. And, this time I have picked a smaller lobster, approx. 1.5 lb is just enough to make 2 lobster rolls. If you bought bigger lobsters, you can always use leftover meat to make lobster pasta or lobster bisque.
To boil the live lobster, I boiled for at least 7-10 minutes, and I add some salt and pepper into the boiling water to boil the lobster. Remember to let the lobster sit for 1-2 minutes before you start cracking the lobster open, so it’s not too hot and you may burn yourself. Also, when cracking the lobster, remember to use a break from the joint. Can start breaking apart the head with the tail first by twisting at the joint between head and tail. Then find a strong scissor to cut down the midline of the tail, so you can open the tail apart and pull the meat out. For breaking other joints, also use the scissor to break apart and claws from the lobster head. This is the most challenging part of the recipe because after you got all the meat out, it’s super simple.
Make the lobster salad by combing mayonnaise, lemon juice, dill, salt, and pepper, and sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder, and if you love spicy, you can always add some hot sauce at your preference. I tend to enjoy the simple flavor of lobster, so I didn’t add any strong spice flavor. Then mix your lobster meat into the salad dressing, and put it in the fridge to marinate the lobster meat in dressing while we prepare the bum. To prepare your hot dog bum, coated a layer of butter before putting the bum on the stove or in the oven to heat up for about 5 minutes or until golden brown. Then, slice opens the hot dog bum and place our wonderful lobster salad right in the middle. You can choose to sprinkle some celery or bell pepper in your lobster sandwich to add to your daily veggie count. Your choice is endless.
Hope you and your family and friends enjoy lobster and lots of laughter together. Remember to check out dessert options like matcha cheesecake or matcha swiss roll to make the fancy lobster meal even fancier.
